Methodist College Social Work Students Attend Advocacy Day in Springfield
April 5, 2019
Four Methodist College Bachelor of Social Work students who are enrolled in SW 372 Advocacy in Social Work Practice, participated in Social Work Advocacy Day at the Illinois capitol building in Springfield on April 3, 2019. They joined over 1000 other social workers and social work students from across the state to attend a half day of educational seminars on lobbying in Illinois. They spent the afternoon visiting the offices of their state representatives and senators and sharing information on bills that are actively supported by National Association of Social Workers - Illinois.
As part of Social Work Month in March, the students hosted an event at the college to bring awareness to the Bachelor of Social Work program and provide tours of the MOLLIE -- the Mobile Outreach Learning Laboratory for Integrative Education -- the newest resource in the college's innovative learning initiatives.
