Medical Assistant Program Open House
November 9, 2018
Methodist College is hosting an Open House to feature its Medical Assistant program. Established in Fall 2017, the Medical Assistant program educates students to become professionals who can work in a variety of healthcare settings. The Open House will be Thursday, November 15 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on the Methodist College campus at 7600 N. Academic Drive.
During the open house, visitors will hear from faculty about the program and curriculum, tour the Methodist College campus, and have the opportunity to sit in on a medical assistant class to observe what current students in the program are learning.
According to the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council, Certified Medical Assistants are in the top ten of in-demand jobs in the Peoria area. The American Association of Medical Assistants states that medical assistants are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties mainly in outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices, clinics and hospitals.
The Methodist College medical assistant program can be completed in 18 months and combines foundational general education courses with a strong medical assistant curriculum that prepares students not only for careers but to be able to sit for a variety of certification exams.
