2019 Methodist College Scholarship Breakfast Honors Students and Donor

2019 Scholarship Breakfast Honors Students and Donors

On April 12, Methodist College, in conjunction with the UnityPoint Health Methodist - Proctor Foundation, hosted the annual Scholarship Awards Breakfast. Methodist College recognized 140 students who received a scholarship through the Foundation or a grant. The breakfast is a celebration of student achievements and an opportunity for students to meet the donors to their scholarships. While we recognize Methodist College students and donors at the event, they are also building relationships that make a difference inside and outside of the classroom.

Over 220 individuals attended the breakfast event to support the achievements of Methodist College students. Methodist College Chancellor, Dr. James Dire, presented a college update regarding new programs and initiatives. Will Stevens, Vice President of the UnityPoint Health Methodist - Proctor Foundation gave an update from the Foundation that included the announcement of three new scholarships. It was a morning of excitement and celebration as we look forward to what will be achieved in the coming year!

Each year at the Scholarship Awards Breakfast, Methodist College presents the Outstanding Community Partner Award. Faculty and staff can nominate an organization that Methodist College works with through the community to enhance our student’s education. Those organizations nominated demonstrate a positive impact on Methodist College and the local community. Heartis Village Peoria was selected as the Outstanding Community Partner Award recipient! The partnership with Heartis Village began with an internship opportunity for gerontology students. That partnership has expanded to include service learning projects for students, art classes, and volunteer projects. Heartis Village residents even collect items for Ollie’s Pantry. The projects developed for Methodist College students and Heartis Village residents are rewarding to both groups, as they develop friendships that continue beyond the classroom.

Thank you to our sponsors for their continued support of our students. This year the breakfast was sponsored by CEFCU, Jeanine Spain of UnityPoint Health, and Rob Quin of UnityPoint Health. Sponsorship of the event allows students to attend the event at no cost and raises funds for scholarships. A special thank you to those who donate to Methodist College and scholarships for students. Through your support Methodist College is educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients!
