Program Goals
The graduate of Methodist College will be able to:
- Incorporate knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes from natural and physical sciences; behavioral and social sciences; humanities and fine arts; and mathematics, business, and economics into professional nursing practice and life-long learning
- Integrate legal, ethical, and professional accountability into practice on behalf of recipients of health care, themselves and their colleagues
- Evaluate the application of the nursing process to deliver primary, secondary and tertiary care to stabilize the client system
- Select appropriate written, verbal, nonverbal and technological skills to communicate effectively
- Provide leadership and management in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care
- Use various theories as a framework, recommend actions and solve problems based on reasoned argument and critical thinking
- Integrate knowledge regarding health care practices and beliefs of diverse cultural groups in the delivery of nursing care
- Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and the advancement of the nursing profession
- Support the adoption of evidence-based therapeutic interventions in nursing practice, based on well-conducted research
