Methodist College to Host a Discussion on Systemic Healthcare Challenges of African-Americans
Methodist College’s Voices Series will present “Discussing Systemic Healthcare Challenges of African-Americans,” sponsored by the college’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. The presentation will be presented live through Microsoft Teams on Thursday, February 25 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
The presentation and panel discussion will focus on vaccine hesitancy and healthcare inequities and challenges within the African-American community. Garry Moore, former morning news anchor for WEEK-TV and co-founder of WPNV-LP 106.3FM will be the keynote speaker. Mr. Moore will also moderate the panel discussion.
The panel discussion will be led by:
- Bernice Gordon-Young, Licensed Psychotherapist at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center
- Demarcus Hamilton, Program Director and Journalist at Strictly Hip Hop 90.7FM Radio
- Dr. Elaine Hardy, President of the Illinois Black Nurses Association
- Cobe Slaughter, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Student at Methodist College
