Lions Club to Bring Vision Van to Methodist College

Lions Club to Bring Vision Van to Methodist College

A free Diabetic Retinopathy Screening for persons with diabetes, or those at risk for diabetes, will be held on April 11, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Methodist College at 7600 N. Academic Drive. The Grand Prairie Lions Club of Peoria and the Lions of Illinois Foundation are coordinating the screening, and it is made possible through the public’s generous donations. The quality of life for people with diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders, such as macular degeneration, is dramatically impacted. Since early detection of such disorders is critical, persons with diabetes or those 55 or older are encouraged to take advantage of this free screening.

In addition, the staff and volunteers with the Vision Van will conduct free vision screenings for children 6 months to 18 years old, and retinal screening for children 10 years of age to adults. Children under the age of 18 will need parental consent.

The Lions of Illinois Foundation exists to assist in the general improvement of the quality of life
of those individuals in Illinois having unmet needs. It is the specific mission of the Foundation to provide quality programs & services to the people of Illinois for the detection, treatment, & rehabilitation of visual & hearing impairments.

Persons wishing to join the Lions in their fight against the effects of vision and hearing loss should contact the local Lions Club or the Lions of Illinois Foundation.
