Methodist College Strategic Plan 2016-2021
Methodist College has been on an incredible journey the last three years, which is well documented by the number of actions that have been completed on our 2013-2016 Strategic Plan. With this incredible energy and drive, the college's administration, staff and faculty present the new Methodist College Strategic Plan, spanning 2016-2021.
To start this process, meetings were held in summer of 2015 with staff (June 9th) and faculty (August 13th). In both these meetings, SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analyses were completed and much qualitative data was gathered. These data were reviewed for trends and themes. In fall of 2016, the President's Advisory Council and Board of Directors were also asked to provide input into our upcoming plan. This input was gathered using SurveyMonkey, and these data were also reviewed for trends and themes with the previously existing data. An ad hoc committee of the Methodist College Board of Directors met on October 27, 2016 to review the trends and themes from the SWOT meetings, and board and council input. Three themes emerged from this meeting and became the strategic planning initiatives for 2016-2021.
The three strategic planning initiatives are as follows:
1. Advancing a Culture of Teaching & Learning - e.g. graduate student learning outcomes, increase number of doctorally-prepared faculty, Campus of Care, co-curricular education
2. Harnessing a Sound Fiscal Foundation - e.g. increase grants, scholarship, decrease tuition dependency
3. Embracing Civic Engagement, Volunteerism & Community Partnerships - e.g. service learning, volunteerism, community partnerships
From emerging trends identified by the President and Cabinet, a fourth initiative also was added in Spring 2016, to focus on the needs of diversifying enrollment.
