Six Methodist College Faculty Receive Promotions

The following faculty have received promotions effective for the 2018-2019 academic year:

  • Amy Smith, MSN, RN to Assistant Professor of Nursing I in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions
  • Elke Scholz-Morris, PhD to Assistant Professor of Biology in the Division of Arts and Sciences
  • Colleen Karn, MS to Assistant Professor of English & Humanities in the Division of Arts and Sciences
  • Lisa Pumfrey, MS to Assistant Professor of Biology in the Division of Arts and Sciences
  • Theresa Schwindenhammer, PhD, RN to Professor of Nursing in the Division of Nursing and Health Professions
  • Octavian Gabor, PhD to Professor of Philosophy in the Division of Arts and Sciences

Promotions will take effect for the 2018 – 2019 academic year with a celebration of achievement at Convocation on August 22. In addition, each faculty member earning a promotion will select a book of significance to be plated and added to the Methodist College library collection. 

Methodist College faculty earning a promotion were reviewed by a team of colleagues who recommended each candidate after reviewing their portfolio. Their achievements have been recognized within the classroom, community, clinical setting, and even around the world. These faculty members have contributed significantly to developing new courses, programs, learning outcomes, and innovative teaching strategies. Methodist College Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Deborah Garrison stated, “Our students, faculty, and community benefit from the knowledge and dedication each bring to their profession. Faculty at Methodist College are of the highest caliber in their respected fields.”
