Introducing the First-Gen Student Podcast at Methodist College

Join us as we shine a spotlight on the experiences and achievements of first-generation college students at Methodist College via the First-Gen Student Podcast.

In our debut episode, first-generation college student, Alison Nieukirk, sits down with our Dean of Nursing, Dr. Blanca Miller, as she candidly shares her educational and professional journey. Listen in as she reflects on the challenges she encountered as a first-generation college student and how she successfully navigated through them.

Dr. Miller also provides valuable insights into the array of resources and support systems available at Methodist College, specifically tailored to empower and uplift our first-gen students.

The First-Gen Student Podcast is an initiative organized by the First-Generation subcommittee of our Student Government Association. This group was created to recognize the fact that approximately 50% of Methodist College students are first-generation college students. The First-Gen Student Podcast is an avenue to present the stories and journeys of first-generation students within our faculty, staff, and student community.

Keep an eye out for future episodes, and email Leah Jones-Schneblin to get involved with the First-Generation student organization.
