New Scholarship Program at Methodist College Eases Financial Stress for Aspiring Social Workers
February 6, 2026
Methodist College and Carle Health are committed to creating pathways for the next generation of caregivers to experience fewer barriers to pursue a career in healthcare. We are proud to introduce a new scholarship opportunity for students entering a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), made possible by Carle Health Center for Philanthropy. Starting in Fall 2026, students enrolling for the first time in Methodist College’s Bachelor of Social Work program can receive up to $1,500 off tuition each semester, which will be renewable for up to eight semesters if they remain eligible.
A Bachelor of Social Work prepares graduates for meaningful, people-centered careers focused on improving individual, family and community well-being. Methodist College’s BSW program, located in Peoria, emphasizes evidence-informed practice, social and economic justice and professional integrity. This scholarship opportunity launches as the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) recently fully reaccredited the Methodist College BSW Program for eight more years - the highest level of recognition granted by the accrediting body for social work education in the United States.
“It is our mission to prepare students as change agents and support the growing need for care across the region,” Corey Campbell, PhD, LCSW, Methodist College program director said. “This scholarship opportunity will create more pathways to success for our students and ease the burden that financial obligations can have on so many who are working toward a meaningful career in healthcare.”
All students who apply for the BSW Program are automatically considered for the opportunity to receive a reduction in their tuition costs based on their financial need. Applicants will need to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), meet Methodist College Admissions requirements and remain in good academic standing to continue receiving the scholarship.
