A New Pathway to an Affordable Social Work Degree
Methodist College is committed to reducing financial barriers for future social workers. Beginning Fall 2026, the new Social Work Scholars program offers qualifying students a tuition reduction of up to $1,500 per semester—renewable for up to eight semesters for students who remain eligible.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Carle Health and Methodist College to create meaningful pathways into healthcare and human services careers, especially for students passionate about making a lasting difference in their communities.

What is Social Work Scholars?
Students enrolling for the first time in Methodist College’s Social Work Degree beginning in the Fall 2026 semester and beyond will be reviewed for the opportunity to receive a reduction in their tuition costs. The maximum amount of assistance is $1,500 per semester and can continue to be awarded for up to eight semesters if the student remains eligible.
Who is eligible and are there eligibility requirements?
Students are eligible if they are a newly admitted Social Work student starting in Fall 2026 and future semesters.
Students must complete a FAFSA each year of the program.
Students must meet Methodist College Admissions requirements.
Students must remain in good academic standing to continue receiving the scholarship.
If a student falls outside of good academic standing, funding will continue for one subsequent term while they return to good standing.
Do I still need to complete a FAFSA?
Yes. Once accepted into Methodist College, the student will need to complete a FAFSA.
When does it start?
Social Work Scholars will start being offered in Fall 2026.

About the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program
A Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) prepares graduates for meaningful, people-centered careers focused on improving individual, family, and community well‑being. As a generalist social worker, students are trained to serve in a variety of settings, including:
- Healthcare systems
- Schools
- Community agencies
- Mental health and substance use programs
- Child and family service organizations
- Nonprofits
- Government agencies
BSW graduates support individuals and communities through case management, advocacy, program coordination, community outreach, and service navigation—all grounded in social justice and ethical practice.
Students who complete a BSW are also eligible for advanced standing in many Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, allowing them to complete graduate education more quickly and pursue clinical licensure or leadership roles.
