Methodist College Partners with Local Organizations to Offer A Matter of Balance Program

This fall, Methodist College is offering the A Matter of Balance program for seniors at two local facilities, the Greater Peoria Family YMCA and the Miller Senior Center in Pekin. A Matter of Balance addresses the issue of falls among the senior population. The program consists of 2-hour sessions, taught over eight weeks that utilize strategies to reduce fear of falling by increasing activity levels, changing the environment to reduce fall risks, and increasing exercise to increase strength and balance.

The Methodist College program is coordinated by Professor Marjorie Getz and includes participation of nursing students in leading the sessions.
