First-Generation Student Group

Founded in 2024 and officially recognized by Methodist College in 2026, the First-Generation Student Group is the first organization at Methodist College dedicated to supporting, empowering, and celebrating first-generation college students through leadership, mentorship, service, and community.

Being the first in your family to pursue a college degree is a remarkable accomplishment, but it can also come with unique challenges and responsibilities. Our organization exists to ensure that no first-generation student has to navigate that journey alone. Through mentorship, leadership opportunities, community service, professional development, and campus involvement, we strive to build a welcoming environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and inspired to reach their full potential. Our motto, “Breaking Barriers. Building Legacies.”, reflects our commitment to creating opportunities not only for ourselves, but also for the generations of students who will follow.
